Mary Ann Carter ODESSA Marianne Carter a Christian and a true free spirit, passed away peacefully on February 23 2026 in the beautiful care of Home Hospice. She was born in Odessa in 1956. She graduated from Permian High School in 1974. Marianne found God's handiwork in the vast and the small alike. She was a woman of the horizon, deeply moved by the rugged peaks of Big Bend and the desert's silent strength. Yet, she also found immense joy in the seasonal return of the Texas bluebonnets. Like the wildflowers she loved, Marianne possessed a natural, unforced beauty and a spirit that couldn't be fenced in. She is survived by daughter Olivia, husband Robert, and grandons Brooks and Bruin Dutko and daughter Ashley Williams, grandson Payton Mapes, great grandson Scotty Mapes and granddaughter Lauren Williams who will continue to see her spirit in every springtime bloom. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Carter and mother Kathryn Turner Carter.
