
Daryl Lane MIDLAND TX Daryl Lane was born on July 3, 1940 and grew up in Yuba City, California. Upon graduating from high school, he earned degrees from the University of San Francisco, the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and the University of New Mexico. In the early 1960s Daryl was one of the original Peace Corps Volunteers, spending two years in Ecuador South America surveying for a road that crossed over the Andes and descended into the Amazon jungle. He came to Odessa in 1973 and taught in the English Department at Odessa College for 32 years, serving part of that time as Department chair. Daryl was an avid backpacker and enjoyed exploring wilderness areas throughout the western United States. Following his retirement in 2005, he took up astronomy and acted as the star party coordinator for the West Texas Astronomers club. Daryl is survived by a sister, Alberta Lane, of Sacramento, California; a brother, Stephen Lane, of Cameron Park, California; and three nieces living in various parts of California.
