Wendy Lea (Cooper) Taggart MIDLAND Wendy Lea (Cooper) Taggart was born in Odessa, Texas, to Don and Donna Cooper on March 6, 1971. On October 4, 2026, at 3:46 a.m., Wendy took her final breath on Earth and her first breath in Heaven, with her beloved husband, Curtis, by her side. Wendy was a woman of unwavering faith who loved the Lord deeply. Her faith was not simply something she talked about?it was woven into the way she lived, loved, served, and cared for others. She had a beautiful heart and a gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and important. Wendy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Grammie), daughter, granddaughter, aunt, cousin, friend, and teacher. To the many people whose lives she touched, she was so much more than any title could describe. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed. Wendy graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas, and later graduated from Texas Woman's University. She married the love of her life, Curtis Paul Taggart, on July 29, 1995, in Dallas, Texas. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, love, and service. Wendy spent much of her career as a Special Education teacher, serving children and families in Dallas, Houston, Odessa, and Midland. Teaching was more than a career to Wendy?it was a calling. She had an extraordinary ability to see the individual child, recognize their gifts, and love them exactly as they were. She poured her heart into her students and was truly amazing at what she did. The lives she touched through her years of teaching will carry a part of her legacy forward. But as much as Wendy loved teaching, her greatest joy was being a wife and a mother. Her family was her heart. She treasured her husband, Curtis, and her children, and there was no greater place for her than surrounded by the people she loved. She was the kind of mom whose love was constant, whose presence brought comfort, and whose family always knew they mattered most. Becoming a grandmother brought her another special kind of joy, and she cherished every moment with Lucas and Adony. Wendy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Don and Donna Cooper; her maternal grandparents, Don and Edith Wimberly; her paternal grandparents, Eddie and Jean Cooper; her mother - in - love, Linda Taggart; and her sister - in - love, Teressa Carroll. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love and memory in their hearts: her beloved husband of 31 years, Curtis Paul Taggart; her five beautiful children, Jackson Taggart of Arlington, Texas; Sarah Taggart of Spring, Texas; and Connor Taggart, Emily Taggart, and Logan Taggart, all of Midland, Texas; and her two beautiful grandchildren, Lucas Taggart of Arlington, Texas, and Adony Taggart of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters - in - love, Renae Armstrong of Odessa, Texas; Mandy Dunnagan of Fort Worth, Texas; and Sherri Winstead of Fayetteville, North Carolina; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family. Wendy's life was a gift. Her love, laughter, faith, compassion, and devotion to her family and to the children she taught will remain long after her passing. Though her family grieves the tremendous emptiness left by her absence, they find comfort in knowing that Wendy is now home?whole, healed, and in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. Her earthly story has ended, but her love and legacy continue in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her. A Celebration of Wendy's life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at First Methodist Church in Midland, Texas, with Pastor Paul Taggart, Reverend Samantha Parson, and Reverend Steve Brooks officiating.
