Judy Kay (Gleason) Newkirk PURCELL, OKLAHOMA Judy Newkirk - Gleason age 75 of Purcell passed away in Oklahoma City on February 19, 2026. Judy Kay Gleason was born to James Mac Gleason and Jewell Agnes Gleason (Raines) on June 10, 1950 in Green River, Wyoming. Her father worked for the rail road, so Judy's childhood was spent traveling the country wherever his work led the family. They eventually settled in Oklahoma, and it's been home for most of her life. Judy married Laurence Houston Newkirk on December 17, 1966 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. The young couple made their home in Odessa, Texas for nearly twenty years before returning to Oklahoma in the late 80s. Judy worked a number of odd jobs over the years. She worked for Texas Instruments, Piggly Wiggly, assembled fruit baskets, and delivered milk to local schools. Her primary job throughout the years was taking great care of her family and her home, which she did with love and devotion. Judy loved to garden, read, and write. She believed you could tell all you need to know about a person by the shoes they wore. Though she was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandma, and sister the title she wore most proudly was Christian. She was a proud woman of faith who deeply loved her savior Jesus Christ and took comfort in God's word daily. Judy was preceded in death by her parents James and Jewell Gleason, and her siblings Jeanette Kirkendall, Mary Gleason, and John Gleason. She is survived by her husband Laurence Newkirk of Maysville. Her children Jenny Newkirk and husband Ron of Purcell, Thomas Newkirk and wife Tara of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Julynn Patton of Marble Falls, Texas. She also leaves behind her sister Betty White and husband Bill of Odessa, Texas, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her niece and nephew Michael & Kelly Brown. Judy's family will gather at a later time to celebrate her life.
