Joe Cook ODESSA, TEXAS In Loving Memory of Joe Cook. Joe Cook, born on October 4, 1942, was a beloved husband, father and friend who received his well - earned wings and went home to be with the Lord in Heaven on August 9, 2025. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marsha Cook, the love of his life, with whom he shared an extraordinary journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment over the decades. Together, they created countless memories that will be treasured by their family and friends. Joe leaves behind a wonderful family, including his cherished children: Sherri Conran, Todd Cook, who is engaged to Debbie Gillihan, Lori Brown and her fiancé Kevin Dixon, Bruce Milliken, and Karen Milliken. His brothers Dwight and Earnest Cook, their wives Debbie and Alice, and his sister Judy Day. He also has a remarkable legacy in the form of his beloved grandchildren: Michelle, Tiffany Sarah, Chelsi, Courtney, Jolie, Tiffany Le'anne, Cameron, Dalton, Nathan, Brandon, Hunter, and Connor. They all hold a special place in their hearts for their grandfather, as do his 14 great - grandchildren and 2 great - great - grandchildren. all of whom will carry forth his memory for generations to come. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Peggy Cook, and his daughter Pamela Kologinczak, both of whom he held dear in his heart throughout his life. A challenging family environment shaped Joe's life, but from an early age, he was driven by an entrepreneurial spirit that set him apart. With the encouragement and support of his friends, he dedicated himself to working day and night in a modest one - car garage at home, which became the birthplace of his first business venture. His passion and determination paid off when he realized his dream of creating a business, Caprock Exploration, that allowed him to earn a living while he slept, marking a significant milestone in his career. Over the years, Joe distinguished himself as a great and successful businessman, laying the foundation of his career on hard work, integrity, and an innovative vision. He operated Cook's Engine Service for an impressive 58 years, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to quality and service, and he was involved in several other business endeavors. His achievements established him as a pillar of the community, leaving behind big shoes to fill. Yet, beyond his professional milestones, Joe was best known for his astounding loyalty as a husband, his steadfast friendships, and his deep compassion for others. He had a heart as big as his personality, drawing people to him with his warmth and kindness. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever cherish the indelible mark he left on their lives. Joe's life was a powerful testament to love, generosity, and unwavering faith. While he will be profoundly missed by all, his family takes solace in the belief that he is now in the loving presence of the Lord, reunited with cherished loved ones who have gone before him?along with a special reunion with Elvis! Visitation will be Friday, August 15, 2025, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of Joe's remarkable life will be held at Saturday, 2:00 PM on August 16, 2025 @ Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa. MICHAEL DEAN WALDROP MIDLAND Michael "Mike" Dean Waldrop was born on April 23, 1947, in Odessa, Texas, to Charlie R. and Hazel (Clark) Waldrop. He passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Midland, Texas. Mike attended Permian High School, Odessa College, and West Texas State before earning a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. On January 17, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca (Malone). Eighteen years later, in 1987, they welcomed their greatest joy ? their daughter, Alexis Lyn. Mike spent much of his career serving as CFO for various local businesses in Midland. In 2004, he realized a lifelong dream when he built and managed Desert Thunder Raceway ? a local drag strip that quickly became a hub of community, friendship, and fast cars until its closing in 2014. A true enthusiast of life in the fast lane, Mike lived big, fast, and loud. In his younger years, he loved fishing, hunting, and racing motocross and enduro bikes. His passion for speed only grew with time. He was an avid Harley - Davidson rider, a dedicated car restorer, and a collector of unique hot rods. He especially enjoyed car shows, where he could share his love of classic vehicles with like - minded friends. Mike was deeply loved as a husband, father, brother, and friend. His presence in our lives will be profoundly missed, but we are forever grateful to God for the memories and the legacy he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, "Pete" and Hazel Waldrop. He is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Becky Waldrop of Midland; his daughter, Lexi Johnson, and her husband, Kris, of Midland; his sisters, Pam Mayhew and her husband, Lee, of Lubbock, and Paula Waldrop of Odessa; brother - in - law Don Malone of Beloit, WI; 2 nieces and 5 nephews. Robert Larry "Bo" Meek TEMPLE Dr. Robert Larry Meek passed away August 12, 2025 in Austin, Texas. He was born November 12, 1946 in Dumas, Texas. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1965. He finished his undergraduate at Hardin - Simmons University where he met Linda Sue Cohorn and they married in 1971. After earning his degree from Baylor University School of Dentistry, he began his career as a dentist. They moved to Odessa in 1974 where they would build and start his dental practice. Robert was known to his family and friends as Bo. He was a dedicated loving husband and father. He and Linda were blessed with two children, David Leo Meek and Lacy Camille Meek Phillips. So many wonderful memories were made with friends and family at their home in Odessa and the lake house in Breckenridge, Texas. He had a passion for gardening, and loved creating a beautiful yard for all to enjoy. He practiced dentistry in Odessa for 43 years. In 2002, his wife Linda passed away unexpectedly after 31 years of marriage. In 2005, Bo was blessed to discover love again when he married Elizabeth Malone Meek. After his retirement in 2017, Bo and Liz moved to the family lake house for a few years of lake life and then moved to Austin, Texas. Together they shared 9 grandchildren and came to be known as Bopaw and Lizzy. One of Bopaw's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren any chance he got. He loved his family well! Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Malone Meek of Austin; son and daughter - in - law, David Meek and Jenny of Midland; daughter and son - in - law, Lacy Phillips and Ryan of Ardmore, OK; stepdaughters, Taylor and Neil McGlennon of Austin; Morgan Rutter and Evan Gilmore of CO; grandchildren, Cooper Phillips, Colton Meek, Layla Phillips, Sadie Meek, Blake Meek, Cora Phillips, Cameron McGlennon and Corey McGlennon; sister, Mary Jo and Dan Ferrell of MO; brother, Bill Meek and Marilyn of AR. Robert is proceeded in death by his parents, Garnette and Leo Meek of Dumas, Tx; sister - in - law, Sharon Meek of AR; grandson, Austin Meek of Midland. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Odessa, Texas with a reception to follow.

Joan (Smith) Headlee SANTA FE Joan S. Headlee died peacefully on August 6, 2025. She was born in Pecos Texas on Nov. 5, 1929. She moved with her family to various oil fields in West Texas, landing in Odessa, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Gordon Headlee. Joan and Gordon were married on June 5, 1949. Three children followed. She lived a life full of friends, family and service to church and numerous charities. In 1973, the family moved to Gunnison, Colorado to run a cattle ranch and trout fish. In 1981, Joan and Gordon retired to Granite Shoals, Texas. Joan later moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico to be close to family where she lived until her death. She is preceded in death by her husband Gordon, sons David and Gordon Jr. Her brother Larry Smith and daughter, Claudia Thomas, survive her along with grandchildren, Jacob Thomas and Leah Thomas Michaels. She was blessed with two great grandsons, Roland and Gilbert. Donations in her memory can be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch or the New Mexico Assn. of Food Banks.
