Anthony Talbert ODESSA Dr. Anthony Lyle Talbert, 81, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on November 3, 2025. Dr. Talbert was born on January 26, 1944, to Walter and Eleanor (Desidario) Talbert in Bronx, New York. He married Mary Lynn (Danielson) on July 30, 1977, in Yankton, South Dakota. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology from St. Bernadine of Sienna College in Loudonville, NY, in 1965, and his Doctor of Medicine from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in Jersey City, NJ, in 1969. Dr. Talbert proudly served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from September 4, 1968, to June 8, 1975, retiring with the rank of Major. Following his military service, he devoted over 30 years to caring for children as a pediatrician and neonatologist, serving the Odessa community with compassion and dedication. He loved cooking - especially Italian food and pizza - traveling (with a special fondness for Italy and Australia), enjoying limoncello, and sharing his infamous "terrible jokes." Above all, he cherished his cats, his family, and his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. Dr. Talbert is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lynn Talbert of Odessa; two children, Nicole Heredia (Randall) and Matthew Talbert (Rochelle); and three grandchildren, Noah Heredia, Izzy Heredia, and Dexter Talbert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eleanor Talbert.
