Robert Kenneth "Ken" Shipman BURKETT Robert Kenneth "Ken" Shipman, 92, of Burkett, died Monday, January 19, 2025, at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2025, in the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Pastor Ben McSpadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Kendrick Cemetery, Denton Valley. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Ken was born April 26, 1933, in Muleshoe to Christopher and Vera (McCarty) Shipman. Ken was a 1951 graduate of Clyde High School and shortly after married the love of his life Minnie Holder on August 10, 1951, in Clyde. Ken and Minnie moved to Odessa where Ken was an electrician and later owned and operated J & K Electric for more than 40 years. He and Minnie raised their family in Odessa and he could be found most days in the stands or sidelines of Hood Junior High and Permian High where he watched his son's and daughter practice and participate. Ken loved the outdoors and took the family fishing at Lake Brownwood and later to the Mountains near Pagosa Springs, Elk hunting. Ken and Minnie moved to Burkett from Odessa in 2012. They are members of First Baptist Church in Odessa. Ken is survived by his wife, Minnie Shipman, of Burkett; daughter, Rhonda Murray and husband Donald of Odessa; son, Mark Shipman of Georgetown; daughter - in - law, Billie Shipman of Odessa; four sisters, Rita Mae Russell of Springtown, Shirley Ann Acton of Clyde, Charlotte Balding of Baird and Sandra Ford of Baird; eleven grandchildren; ten great - grandchildren; and seven great - great - grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, great and great - great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kenny and David Shipman; two sisters, Audra Lee Hefly and Wanda Faye Jones; three brothers, James Ogle, Harold and Curtis Shipman.
