Dewayne K. Phillips SAN MARCOS Dewayne Kenneth Phillips, age 95 of San Marcos, Texas slipped his earthly bonds and entered into the Kingdom of God Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born July 14, 1929, in Graham, Texas. Dewayne was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. A man of many interests and endeavors, he was a member of the US Air Force, a lifelong learner, mathematician, artist, health and fitness enthusiast and a man of God. His life took him from Wink, Texas, where he graduated from Wink High School, all the way to Maryland where he established his psychiatric practice. Some of his most fond memories of Maryland were spending time at the family beach house and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. He and his family were drawn back to their roots in Texas where he lived out the remainder of his life creating beautiful works of art and sharing his infectious positivity with everyone he encountered. He is preceded in death by his parents Icie Floe and Floy Tom Phillips and his loving wife of 40 years LaWanda Phillips. He is survived by his daughters and sons - in - law: Tracy Phillips and Luis Vela, Brenda Simek and John McKinney, and Laura and Marty Arredondo. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rachel Pittman, Charlie Simek, Emily Pendleton and her husband Mark, and his great grandchildren: Jana, James and David Pendleton. Funeral Services will be held at 10am Wednesday, July 9, 2025 with visitation from 9am - 10am, at Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche St., San Marcos, Texas. Funeral services will also be held at 10am Friday, July 11, 2025, with visitation from 9am - 10am, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 6801 E. 1 - 20BL, Odessa, Texas, with burial to follow.

Velma (Sanchez) Galindo ODESSA, TEXAS Velma Galindo was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 67 years of life. She passed away peacefully and suddenly on Sunday, June 30, 2025, at her home in Odessa, Texas. She was born to Jesse and Olivia Sanchez in Del Rio, Texas on December 26, 1957; the oldest of six children. Velma met the love of her life and beloved husband Nicolas Galindo, and they were married for 39 years that were filled with intertwined hopes and shared realities. She was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and was very passionate about contributing to their business. Velma loved traveling and gambling with her husband, which was their shared hobby and a way to unwind and enjoy each others company in a unique way. She made each grandchild feel uniquely loved, always offering a listening ear, wise advice or a comforting hug when it was needed most. Velma is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Galindo; mother, Olivia Sanchez and father, Jesse Sanchez. Those left to mourn her loss include her husband, Nicolas Galindo; her son, Michael Galindo and wife, Ashley; her daughter, Cheri Martinez and husband Phillip; sister, Virginia Rodriguez and husband Rudy; sister, Mary Santos and husband Jaime; brother, Jesse Sanchez and wife Juanita; sister, Leticia Oviedo and husband Fernando; sister, Alicia Lilaquist and husband Mike; grandchildren, Michael Galindo Jr., Dylan Galindo, Justin Martinez, Jason Martinez, and Jacob Martinez; along with many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 6 PM - 8 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Monday, July 7, 2025, with the Rosary at 7 PM. Ethel Lee Stone ODESSA, TX Ethel Lee Stone, 87, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. She was born on February 22, 1938, in Bokchito, Oklahoma, to Earnest Albert Sanders and Carrie Ello Lewis, and was raised in Durant, Oklahoma. Ethel's early years of marriage took her across the country with a close - knit group of oilfield families, eventually leading her to settle in Odessa, Texas ? the place she raised her children and called home. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Ethel spent many years employed with The Odessa American and later with Mark Knox Flowers, where her strong work ethic and warm personality left a lasting impression. She loved to stay busy and found great joy in the simple pleasures of life ? listening to music, visiting casinos, cooking and most especially, keeping in close touch with friends and family through daily phone calls. Her faith in Jesus was strong and she loved her family more than anything in this world. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great - grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness. A true fan of the Texas Rangers, Ethel rarely missed a game and cheered on her team with unwavering loyalty. Ethel is survived by her two sons: David Drennan and wife Genevieve Sanchez of Odessa, and Greg Drennan and wife Susan of Odessa; as well as numerous grandchildren and great - grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply. She is also survived by her longtime dear friend, Larry Dickerson. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Vikki Drennan, grandsons Shane Ford and Christopher Blair of Odessa, Texas and her two cherished sisters, Peggy McKenzie and Geraldine Webb. Viewing for family and friends will be at the Odessa Funeral Home on Monday, July 7th, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8th at 12:00 pm at Odessa Funeral Home and a small service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank everyone for their condolences. Ethel will be missed by many and her memory will be kept alive by all who loved her.
