Janet Gayle (Martz) Evans RICHARDSON Janet Gayle Martz Evans died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from cancer, which she met with uncompromising courage. Janet was born July 28, 1946 in Odessa, Texas and attended Odessa High School and Odessa College. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English in 1969. She moved to Dallas where she worked as an insurance underwriter for Crum and Forster and for Aetna. In 1980, she married Brian Evans, and they had one son, John. For 40 years, Janet Evans was a steadfast member of Saint Barnabas Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees, was President of the Presbyterian Women, and was head chef of the children's Logos program. She chaired the annual church garage sale for over 20 years. Janet loved to travel and was always ready for a trip, even keeping a packed suitcase in her closet. She traveled to friends and family, the "cousins reunions," the foreign exchange students she and Brian hosted, and she traveled on church choir trips, family vacations, annual buddy get - aways?taking her across Europe and the Americas, from New York to New Orleans, Southampton to Scandinavia, Greece to the Galapagos Islands, and especially Mexico. At home, Janet was the consummate host, quick to invite and plan a gathering for any occasion. She joked she was always happy when the first guest arrived, so that she could stop preparing and join the party. Janet was also a bibliophile, reading daily and amassing an extensive library. She was perceptive and thoughtful, and to her loved ones gave the best advice. Janet was practical and spoke her mind. She lived her life according to her deepest beliefs all the way to the end. Darvin Birl Cox CORPUS CHRISTI It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darvin Birl Cox, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world on October 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on January 25, 1952, in Colorado City, Texas, Darvin lived a life marked by love, hard work, and devotion to family. Darvin was the cherished son of Birl and Elsie Cox. He grew up surrounded by the beauty of Texas and the warmth of a close - knit family. He graduated from Colorado City High School in 1970 and continued his education at Howard County College, embodying a spirit of perseverance and dedication that defined his character. In 1971, Darvin married the love of his life, Cindy McKee, in Westbrook, Texas. Their union was a testament to enduring love, as they celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage filled with shared dreams, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they built a family that brought joy and happiness into their lives. Darvin proudly served in the National Guard for six years, demonstrating his commitment to his country. Following his military service, he embarked on a remarkable career at an electric company, where he worked diligently for 42 years. Starting as a grunt, Darvin's relentless work ethic and dedication propelled him to the esteemed position of branch manager, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. An avid golfer, Darvin found joy on the greens, spending countless days perfecting his swing. In his early years, he also found pleasure in bowling and had a passion for hunting dove and deer. Fishing was another pastime he cherished, taking every opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Darvin was a longstanding member of the American Legion and the Mission Country Club, where he fostered friendships and community connections. He was known for his loyalty, honesty, and stoic nature. His giving spirit extended to those in need, and he always strived to inspire younger generations to work hard and pursue their dreams. Family was everything to Darvin; he would have given his daughter, Monica, the world if he could. Tragically, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, his parents, his younger sister Sylvia Maronivich, and his nephew Christopher Holm. Darvin leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Cox; his sister, Deloris Stockton; his brother, Marvin Cox; and his adored grandson, Dennis Hair. A memorial service to celebrate Darvin's life will be held at Highland Methodist Church in Odessa, Texas, on October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with visitation in the fellowship hall at 10:00 AM. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Jon Hendricks and the congregation of Highland Methodist Church for their support during this time of loss. We also thank all of his friends and peers who have reached out with kindness and condolences. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post #430, which can be sent to PO Box 1109, Odessa, TX 79760, or to their physical address at 2701 East 8th St, Odessa, TX 79761. Darvin Birl Cox will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the love he shared with those around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Darvin.
