Fred Ray Wood ODESSA, TEXAS Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Central) on Monday August 10, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Connection Christian Church in Odessa, with Pastors Joe and Dawn Weaks officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Fred was born October 21, 1944, in Cooper County, Missouri, to Roy and Esther Wood. In 1947, the family moved from Oran, Missouri, to Odessa. He attended Odessa schools, including Odessa High School, and later graduated from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1968. After college, Fred stepped in to operate his father's business, A1 Plumbing, in Odessa. For many years, he jokingly referred to himself as a "drain surgeon". After his father's unexpected passing in 1982, Fred and his mother continued to run the family business. Fred was very close with his mother and dutifully cared for her in her final years until her passing in 2011. In addition to being a businessman, investor, and entrepreneur, he was an avid collector of antiques and made lifelong friends with others who shared his passion. Fred remained active in his projects, hobbies, and travels until retiring in June 2026. With his loving wife, Bradean, Fred was incredibly outgoing and sociable. Together, they frequently attended local charity events, church services, and concerts. They also enjoyed trips with friends that included good food and Broadway plays. In his later years, he looked forward to his daily coffee meetings with friends for camaraderie, telling tall tales, and bragging proudly about his sons and grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Esther Wood. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bradean Wood; sons Michael Fackler, Travis Wood (and wife Debby), and Jonathan Wood; and grandsons Ethan and Zachary Wood.
