Ronnie James Newsom ODESSA, TX Ronnie James Newsom of Odessa, TX went to heaven on Thursday, August 28. He was born on June 30, 1955, in Odessa, TX to Samuel James Newsom and Myrl Newsom. He began his career as a motorcycle policeman for the city of Odessa. He then moved on to Sun Oil. He finished out his career with Rexene and stayed there through all the name changes for 30 years. This is where he received his nickname, Noose, from his best friend Ron Crawford. He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors, especially fishing. Ronnie's entire life was focused on his wife and children. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Suzi Newsom, his son, Chad Maxwell and wife Shelly, daughters, Chey Cabaness and husband Cliff and Chelsea Doverspike and husband Daniel. He has six grandchildren, Sara and husband Justin, Noah, Carimie and husband Tell, Jace, Richlyn and Jaylee James. His four great grandsugars are Gwendolyn, Olivia, Mazlee and Pozee. Also leaving behind is his bloodhound Skeet. He is proceeded in death by his parents Samuel James Newsom, Myrl Newsom, and son - in law Richard Cummins. Ronnie always said, "Destination Heaven." A celebration of life was held on September 6, 2025, with his family.
