Nathan Edsel Hankins ODESSA Nathan Edsel Hankins, 78, of Odessa, Texas, passed away at his home on December 2, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1947, in Midland, Texas, to George Luther and Barbara Evelyn Hankins. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. Nathan married Frances Ann Hankins on April 24, 1970, in Midland. They shared 55 years together and raised two children, Robbin and Jason. Nathan was a proud Texan, known for his kind heart, simple ways, and quick wit. He was a mentor to many, always ready with advice - whether he knew the answer or made one up. He was deeply loved by his family and respected by his community. He is survived by his wife, Frances Ann Hankins; his children, Robbin Lees (Donald) and Jason Hankins; his grandchildren, Carrie Neatherlin (Doug), Andrew Lewis, and Caleb Lewis (Crista); and his siblings, Patricia Cupp, Charles Hankins, Wade Hankins, and Dwight Hankins. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at American Heritage Funeral Home. A committal service will take place on Wednesday, December 10th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601. Nathan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery Funeral Home and Crematory.
