Jeffery Alan Newby ODESSA,TX In Loving Memory of Jeffery Alan Newby Jeffery Alan Newby, 67, of Odessa, Texas was called home to be with our Lord on August 15th in Odessa. Jeff was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James W. Newby and Audrey F. Rimer McAnally on November 27th, 1958. His early childhood years were spent in Oklahoma before his family made their home in Odessa, where he would grow up and become a proud graduate of Odessa High School. Jeff spent his career working in the oil and gas industry, a field that was an important part of both his life and the community he called home. He took pride in his work and in the life he built along the way. If you knew Jeff, you knew how much he loved sports. His passion for competition was lifelong?not only as a fan, but also as a player and coach. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and football. As the years went by, his love of the game continued on the golf course, where he enjoyed many rounds with friends and made many lasting memories along the way. Jeff also had a love for music and dancing. He never needed much encouragement to get out on the dance floor, and if you were lucky enough to dance with him, you probably witnessed the famous "Newby Spin." It was just one of the many ways Jeff brought joy, laughter, and fun to the people around him. Above all, Jeff treasured the time he spent with family and close friends. He cherished family gatherings, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and found joy in the simple moments of being together. He didn't need anything fancy to have a good time?being surrounded by the people he cared about was enough. He treasured the people who made his life meaningful and the people who shared in the many chapters of his life. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, James Newby and Audrey McAnally. Jeff is survived by his daughter, Tara Lanois of Prosper, Texas; his son, Jeffery Scott Newby and wife Michelle of Odessa, Texas; his grandsons, Avery Newby and Otis Lanois, whom he loved dearly; brothers Jimmy Newby and Ron Newby; sisters Sherri Guiter, Peggy Grooms, and Tammy Glanton; and former spouse and the mother of his children, LaCliffta Vickrey Newby. Jeff will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his love of family, his friendships, his competitive spirit, his sense of camaraderie, and the laughter and memories he created throughout his life. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00pm Sunday, August 30th at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, August 31st at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
