Helen Frances McAfee MORAN Helen Frances McAfee, lovingly known as Frances, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at her home in Moran at the age of 91. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Albany. Burial will follow in the Albany Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday at the church from 12:00 noon until service time. Born on August 14, 1934, in Albany, Texas, Frances was raised in the close - knit community she always held dear. She graduated from Albany High School, where she proudly served as drum major and a member of the cheerleading squad. During her life, she met and married the love of her life, Charles Billy McAfee, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion. In 1958, she and C.B. moved to Odessa, Texas, where they raised their family. After C.B. retired from Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) in 1990, they returned to Albany where they fulfilled their dream of having a farm. Frances worshipped her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the First Baptist Church in Albany. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Billy McAfee; her son - in - law, Hugh Koenig; her parents, Ruby and Eldon Waters; and her siblings, Ray Waters, Freda DeLoach, Gracie Martin, and Glenn Waters. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Linda Broxson Crutcher, Cheryl Glover, and Kay Koenig. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Michael - Ann and Joe Black, Holly Glover, Julie and Ross Lairson, Colby and Kaleigh Koenig, and Kelsey and Roy Aguirre. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow, and she was blessed with eight great - grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Christopher, Elena, Hank, Blake, Annie, Rhett, and Jameson. She was a proud sister to Mary and Don Pioterek and Barbara and John Griffin. Frances embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with friends and family. She was an active member of the Women's West Texas Golf Association, where she maintained an impressive handicap and treasured the many friendships and memorable rounds of golf she shared over the years. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Known for her fun - loving spirit, Frances enjoyed playing bingo and trying her luck at the casino. Whether it was a game of chance or a day on the golf course, she always brought laughter, kindness, and a little bit of good fortune. Family and friends often joked that she always seemed to win big. Frances will be remembered for her strength, grace, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew and loved her. Clara (Young) Jay Hammond BRYAN, TEXAS Clara Young Jay Hammond, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at her residence in Bryan, Texas. Born on July 21, 1941, in Coleman, Texas, Clara's life was marked by warmth, dedication, and an unwavering devotion to family and community. Growing up in Odessa, Clara attended Odessa High School, where she began forming the roots of diligence and kindness that would define her. Her professional career was one of steadfast service?she worked for many years for the Brown County Independent School District and for the Texas Department of Transportation, roles through which she touched the lives of countless colleagues and friends with her reliability and friendly spirit. Clara was known for her loving and giving personality. She treasured her family deeply and found immense joy in spending time with them. Her gentle manner and nurturing presence were a constant source of comfort and support to those she loved. Family was very important to Clara. She displayed that through her commitment to marriage. Clara was united in marriage to Robert Crawford Jay on August 12, 1962, cherishing their years together until his passing. Later, she found love again and married Gerald Preston Hammond on December 27, 1998. Clara had a zest for life and enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and traveling to new places, always eager to create cherished memories. Her enthusiasm for making the most out of each moment inspired her family and friends alike. Clara's life brought light and love to all fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched?her gentle spirit and loving heart will not be forgotten. She is survived by her daughters, Nina Michelle Gayoso and Beverly Denise Bauer and husband Bob, and her sisters, Cloyce Cody, Loretta Baker, and JoNeal Collins. Clara's legacy also includes the special moments, wisdom, and generosity she shared with her loved ones including five grandchildren, six great - grandchildren, four great - great - grandchildren and three on the way. Clara was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Allen Young; her mother, Gladys Hanke Young; her first husband, Robert Crawford Jay; and her second husband, Gerald Preston Hammond. The family will host a visitation on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating her remarkable life at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Peggy Jean Weilmuenster McCulloch ODESSA, TX Peggy Jean McCulloch (nee Weilmuenster) was born in Boonville, Missouri, March 15,1931. Though she lived most of her life in Odessa, Texas, she passed away in Conroe, Texas, on January 16, 2026. She was the daughter of Eduard Phillip Weilmunster and Minnie Lucile Ehrle/Early. Peggy married Harvie Cyril (McCollum) McCulloch October 18, 1952, in Portales, New Mexico. Together they had two children, Michael J. McCulloch DVM, and Betty McCulloch. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Kathleen McCollum, her daughter Betty Manning, her sister, Edwina Phyllis Clift, and brother Jerome Quinter Weilmuenster. Peggy lived a charmed life. Her husband "Mac", and then her son Michael and his wife Kathleen, provided the resources for Peggy to travel all over the world and to be involved in multiple civic activities. She was the past - president of Ladies Shrine Club, The Epsilon Mu Chapter of ESA, and Junior Cotillion. She served on the boards of March of Dimes and the Council on Alcoholism, and on the founding board of Clover House. She was an active member of St. John's and St. Barnabas' Episcopal Churches, Read & Review Book Club, Mission Women's Golf Association, Medical Center Auxiliary for fifty years, Fiesta del Arte, Art Institute for the Permian Basin, Crystal Ball Foundation, the Ector County Ladies Sheriff's Posse, Leadership Odessa Alumni, and Women's Democratic Club. As if Peggy was not busy enough, she was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She took great pride in having a member of her family being involved in the formation of a country that would end up being a beacon of democracy for the world. Going to Washington D.C. to participate in the DAR conferences was one of her favorite activities. Interment of Peggy's ashes took place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Her memorial is at the foot of her parents' gravesite.
